Grilled Asparagus with Sesame Seeds

This is another one of those veggies that I didn’t learn to love until sometime later in my life.  It could have something to do with the fact that my dear mother wasn’t much on fresh anything.  Why buy fresh when it comes in a can was her motto.

Which reminds me.  Ever had asparagus out of a can? Um, yeah.  Now, you know why it took me a while to appreciate this wonderful seed of the early spring.  I can take asparagus anyway you hand it to me as long as their is butter and salt involved.  But, alas, that is not always good for our mid-sections ladies and since we are searching for ways to balance our hormones and drop a few lbs as well, perhaps this recipe will be a little more in order.  Sea Salt and maybe even Spike could be a good alternative to salt if you’re watching it in your diet.

Grilled Asparagus with Sesame Seeds

  • 4 Tble extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 pound fresh asparagus, trimmed and peeled
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 Tble sesame seeds

Drizzle the olive oil over the asparagus and turn the spears until they are coated.  Sprinkle with salt.  Grill asparagus for 5 minutes on a hot grill, turning each minute or so.  Remove and toss with sesame seeds.

Makes 4 Servings
