I mentioned at my other blog, The Magnolia Diaries that I have begun skipping menstrual cycles. How bad can that be, right?
Well, it’s not. It’s wonderful. But, for some nutty reason (and let’s face it – perimenopause is nuts) I have been having night sweats and hot flashes like I haven’t had in years. I really thought I was beyond this crap, but apparently, I’m not.
It’s gotten so bad that I’ve been reduced to sleeping totally “nekkid” as we say in the South and that’s still not helping. I vacillate from hot to cold, from hot to cold and from hot to cold, hour upon hour as soon as my head hits that pillow.
In years gone by, I drank Soy for my hot flashes and here recently, I’m thinking I need to start drinking it again. Soy, if you don’t know, has some pretty solid medical evidence behind it that helps with hot flashes and night sweats.
Medical evidence be damned though, I discovered the wonderful effects of soy on hot flashes by sheer chance a number of years ago and I’m convinced it’s helpful. So, until whatever is setting my internal coals on fire passes, it looks like I’ll be drinking soy milk again.
I also wanted to mention to any of you that may be interested that I’ve recently become an affiliate with the company Cool-jams Wicking Sleepwear You can find their advertisement in my sidebar.(and by clicking on any of these links) Cool-jams makes special “jammies” for us menopausal gals that are made of a polyester wicking material.
Wicking material is specifically designed to wick or pull moisture away from your body, unlike cotton (which I love) that simply absorbs the moisture. You will find it in socks, running clothes and various other types of sporting gear.
I’ve not tried the Cool-jams yet, but I’m leaning very strongly toward it. Specifically with this new development and my returning hot flashes. If any of you ladies have bought them and have an opinion on them, I would love to hear what you have to say. Please let us know!
After the holidays, I think I’ll look into a pair for myself and I’ll give you my own take on them as well.
I do want to add however, (cause the FCC says I have to ) that since I’m an affiliate with all of the companies you see in my sidebar (not the google ads), I must disclose to you that I have a vested interest in the products.
I will not, however, give reviews or opinions simply to increase my own potential revenue. So, please know that yes, I do have a dog in the fight when I give these product and book reviews, but I will do my best to be honest and upfront with you at all times.
I have no interest in selling you all something just so I can make a dollar or two here and there. I will give you my honest opinion. If there comes a time that I do not feel I can speak honestly for a product, I will no longer associate with them as an affiliate.
I had to get that out of the way.

Oh, dear friend, a return to the nastiness of night sweats is no fun. Could it be partially due to the stress of the season? December can often find me far from jolly and there is absolutely no ho-ho-ho in hot flashes! So let’s ho-ho-hope for the best and that your soy and jammies work!
Hey Eileen! Long time no see! How have you been? I’ve been hot!
But, the end is coming and it’s coming soon and I’m so, so happy.
Let’s hope the soy and jammies can provide some relief. I probably need to get my little Jack Russell out of the bed too. She’s like a little heater all snuggled up to me.
