Iblogged recently about the popular birth control pill YAZ. With it’s cute marketing campaign targeting young woman for birth control and perimenopausal women for PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder ) symptoms, more than a few readers have asked me about it.
I’m not too fond of birth control pills in general having had more than my fair share of negative side effects. Not to mention, they certainly did nothing to quell my own whopping case of PMDD.
However, I did the post to give a little information about the product and at least put it out there as an option if some women are interested in using them.
In the news recently I have caught a few stories here and there about lawsuits against the makers of YAZ but haven’t given it too much thought due to the fact that unscrupulous attorneys are often seeking to sue pharmacy companies and doctors. Apparently though, the FDA is considering pulling YAZ off the market due to some serious side effects and health issues and quality control issues in one of their production facilities.
Rather than blog about it I thought I would link you to the story and you can read about it yourself. If you are considering YAZ or know anyone who is using or is considering using it, the article might provide a little more information to enable you to make an informed choice. Educating ourselves is never a bad idea.
